Biography

Alan is Past President of the Global Speakers Federation (6,000 accredited professional speakers worldwide) and director of MediaCoach. He is also an author and journalist, and has been both a TV presenter and expert interviewee). In the latter capacity, he has been involved in over 2,000 radio and TV interviews, so is uniquely placed to give insights about the media, and how individuals and organisations can build and protect their reputation. He is also the only person in Europe with the highest professional accreditation in public speaking (FPSA, PSAE) and in public relations (MCIPR).

He provides coaching in broadcast and social media skills to CEOs, politicians, celebrities and communication professionals, as well as providing consultancy in reputation management. He has spoken in over 50 countries, including most European nations, The GCC, Southern Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, USA and Australia. His clients include MPs, TV presenters and sports stars as well as companies including Virgin, BP, The Dorchester, Sony Ericsson, BMW and Mumm Champagne. The Independent newspaper listed him as “one of the top 10 media experts in the UK”. He also created a successful online social network (Which?Online) in 1996, with over 100,000 paying subscribers, long before Facebook. His latest book “The Exceptional Speaker”, co-authored with Paul du Toit, was published in July 2013.

Alan delivers keynotes to order for clients around the world. He spends a lot of time making sure that the speeches fit their precise requirements. Having spoken in in over 50 countries in over 35 years, Alan is able to adapt his presentations to suit any audience, leaving them with valuable takeaways.

Alan also delivers entertaining and witty (so they tell him) after-dinner speeches to audiences around the world. He has presented comedy routines at the Edinburgh Fringe, hosted events at the Comedy Store, and raised tens of thousands of pounds as an auctioneer at charity events. His clients include the Millionaire’s Business Club, the Association of Marketing Directors of Independent Schools and The Dorchester Hotel. Using his thirty-five-year knowledge of the media, his speaking expertise, and his knowledge of different cultures, he finds the right tone for every audience.

Alan is a regular conference host at UK and international events across a range of disciplines including leisure, human resources, communication and manufacturing Industries, providing creativity, peace of mind and reliability. In the past ten years, I have chaired or spoken at conferences in Europe, America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. He ensures that speeches run to a precise timetable, delegates are kept informed and engaged, and questions are dealt with in an entertaining and informative manner.
